Day Two: Business Aspects of BioDiesel Production

 

Block 1: After Action Review of Day One (Library)
              Discussion of events of Day One. Clarification of uncertainties, address residual 

              questions.

Block 2: Distributed Production Vs. Centralized Production (Library)
              Discussion of the KF3 Distributed Production business model contrasted against 

              the traditional Centralized Production model. Discuss “Minimum Effective 

              Response” paradigm.

Block 3: Obtaining Resources and Reagents (Library)
              Discussion of what resources and reagents are required to conduct a biodiesel 

              production operation and where to get them.

Block 4: Obtaining Wvo from Restaurants (Library)
              Discussion of KF3 method of wvo collection from restaurants contrasted against 

              traditional methodology. Describe the Client-Provider relationship between a Bee

              Hive operator and a client restaurant. Discussion of problems solved and value 

              added aspects of KF3 methodology.

Block 0: Lunch
             Simple, wholesome food will be available on site at no charge. Multiple restaurants

             and cafes are within walking distance as well.

Block 5: Using BioDiesel; Consumer Aspects of BioDiesel Use (Library)
              Discuss aspects of actually using biodiesel: burning B100, using blends of Bxx, 

              vehicle modifications, filter issues, mechanical aspects, cold weather, infrastructure

              shift, permitting issues.

Block 6: Dealing with End Products, Value Added Conversions of End Products (Library)
              Describe the end products produced by a biodiesel production operation. Describe 

              basic methodologies of dealing with them. Describe methods of turning Gross

              Filtrate to compost, Glycerin to soap, Glycerin to home heating solution.

Block 7: Client Relations; Marketing BioDiesel (Library)
              Discuss models of relationship to biodiesel consumers: selling to the open market, 

              user owned co-ops, municipality and NGO operations, private use partnerships,

              closed fleet operations, private consumption.
              Discuss marketing aspects of selling biodiesel:
              “BioDiesel Is Better” campaign.

Block 8: Course Evaluation, After Action Review (Library)
              Discuss content of Course, answer remaining questions, solicit suggestions for     

              Course improvement. Close of Business for Day Two.
